$180
Checked 2026-10-24

This listing describes a Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope with a 70mm objective lens and a long 1000mm focal length. The compact tube design uses mirrors and lenses to fold the light path, providing high magnification in a small package. It is well-suited for adults and beginners who want detailed views of planets.

The telescope is supported by a gimbal tripod that features slow-motion controls. This allows for precise adjustments when tracking objects as they move across the night sky, which is essential at higher magnifications. The sturdy mount helps reduce vibrations, ensuring a steadier image during long observation sessions.

This set offers a balance between power and size. The Mak70 design is known for sharp optics and minimal chromatic aberration compared to basic refractors. It is a versatile instrument that works well for backyard astronomy while remaining portable enough to take to darker sky locations.
